Clapp Research Associates, PC (CRA) engineers Allen Clapp and John Dagenhart are experts in application of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) to power, telephone, CATV, fiber optic, and railroad utility system design, construction, operation, and maintenance.

CRA engineers provide expert witness testimony in litigation matters, assist utilities and contractors in assuring that their construction and operation standards meet applicable codes and regulations, and evaluate the safety and operation of electrical equipment.

Allen L. Clapp, P.E., P.L.S.

Allen Clapp is President of Clapp Research Associates, P.C., Consulting Engineers. Allen has been involved in the design and evaluation of electric supply and communication facilities for over 50 years. Allen Clapp is an NESC expert, having served on NESC subcommittees since 1971, and is Editor of the IEEE NESC Handbook. He has investigated over 800 accidents involving electrical contact, equipment damage, fire, structural failure, and other issues. Allen has also served as a mediator and an arbitrator.

John B. Dagenhart, P.E.

John Dagenhart is Vice President of Clapp Research Associates, P.C., Consulting Engineers. John has over 35 years of experience in electrical distribution system engineering and is lead engineer for many of CRA's electrical design and evaluation projects. John Dagenhart is an NESC expert, having served on NESC subcommittees since 1990, and serving as a Reviewer for the IEEE NESC Handbook. He is responsible for CRA’s expert witness litigation services.. John Dagenhart has investigated over 600 accidental electrical contact, equipment damage, structural failure, and other incidents.
